At a live event I attended a while ago, I met a woman named Mary. Mary made quite a lasting impression on everyone who ran into her…which, in this case, was not a good thing.

You see…everyone at the event (except Mary) was there to learn about marketing on the internet. Mary, on the other hand, was at the event solely to get people to donate money to her very worthy cause.

While I respect the cause Mary was promoting, and I admire her commitment to attending an event where there would be several people with money to burn, there was a big problem.

Can you guess what it was?

Mary forgot a basic principle…

People don't buy from you (or donate money to you, in this case) unless they KNOW, LIKE, and TRUST you.

Instead of taking advantage of the event to make initial contact with people who might donate to her cause in the future, Mary decided her agenda was the ONLY agenda that mattered.

Ignoring the fact that everyone who attended this event had spent $2000 to be there because they wanted to learn something…

  • Mary talked through each expert's presentation in an attempt to get the person sitting next to her to commit to donating money to her cause.
  • When the person sitting next to her asked Mary to talk with them on a break so they could hear the speaker, Mary ignored their request and kept on yakking.
  • Mary actually went so far as to move people's belongings to other seats so she could sit next to the people she felt were her most likely candidates for potential donations.

By the last day of the event, everyone had a story to tell about their experience with Mary…and none of the stories were flattering.

Unfortunately, Mary isn't the only person who has made this mistake.

Many people — in their enthusiasm over a product, or their determination to make money with an opportunity — forget that each person we approach has their own personal agenda.

  • Instead of letting people think about whether or not a product is what they want and fits their budget, we try to get them to buy our product the first time we tell them about it.
  • Instead of giving our prospects time to investigate an opportunity and decide whether it's right for them, we try to get people to join our team the very first time we share the opportunity with them.

We forget the basic principle that people only buy from (and join opportunities with) someone they KNOW, LIKE, and TRUST.

You see…

If Mary had respected the other attendees' reasons for being at the event, and had been willing to take TIME to develop a relationship with those people before asking for money, her results would have been very different.

In fact, I am one of several people who would have donated to her cause if she had treated me with respect. And I, like many others, would have also referred her to friends we thought would also like to support her cause.

If you want to be SUCCESSFUL in any business, you need to remember that your potential prospects and customers have their own personal agendas, and you need to be respectful of their needs.

Don't be afraid to take TIME to build a relationship with them first…

If they know, like, and trust you, they'll be more likely to buy from you AND refer other potential customers and prospects to you as well.

Every day, you hear about another seminar or workshop. Each one sounds great, but you can't attend them all. How do you choose the event that's right for YOU?

First of all, it's very important that you understand there is a basic difference between a "Seminar" and a "Workshop":

  • Seminars: Great for networking and finding joint venture partners.
  • Workshops: Great for learning new skills you can immediately implement to improve your business.

Obviously, when you attend a live seminar, you'll learn new strategies. However, the REAL benefit of a live seminar is the networking that can be done.

For example…

Right now, I'm on a cruise with several other ultra-successful internet marketers. Here's the list of people who are on the ship with me:

  • Shawn Casey
  • Carl Galletti
  • Paulie Sabol
  • Donna Fox
  • Mike Filsaime
  • Len Thurmond
  • Jeanette Cates
  • Nathan Anderson
  • Kevin Harris
  • Tatiana Korol
  • Frank Sousa
  • Howard Tiano
  • Gina Gaudio-Graves
  • David Hooper

As you can imagine, I feel like I've died and gone to guru heaven!

Yes, I AM learning new strategies from my fellow travelers (I'd be NUTS not to pick their brains while I have such easy access to them!).

However, the REAL goldmine here is my opportunity to network with these people, cement friendships with them, let them know what I can offer that will help increase their business, and set the groundwork to do some joint venture projects with them in the future.

Seminars are a great way to pick up some extra tactics, but the main benefit of seminars is the ability to bond with like-minded entrepreneurs with the goal of developing a business relationship that will benefit everyone.

If the idea of spending a week on a cruise with other serious internet marketers sounds exciting, you'll be happy to know I have another cruise seminar scheduled in just a couple of months…you'll learn new strategies and have ample opportunity to network with like-minded entrepreneurs. You'll even receive one-on-one coaching!

In contrast to seminars, live workshops are perfect for learning an entire set of new skills in a very short amount of time.

For example, imagine this…

  • On Friday, you walk into a live workshop with NOTHING…no pen, no paper, and no knowledge of how to do what the workshop will teach.
  • On Sunday, you walk out of the live workshop with a website FULLY BUILT…already up and running, already poised to be indexed by the search engines, and all you need to do is sit back and wait for the profits to start rolling in.

Sound good? It should…in just 3 days you will have created a passive residual income stream AND learned the skills necessary to repeat the task over and over again!

Of course, there will be other attendees at the workshop who you'll have opportunity to network with. And, you may even find a joint venture partner or two.

However, the REAL goldmine is the know-how you've picked up in just 3 days that will enable you to create multiple passive income streams.

This example wasn't just wishful thinking. In March, I will be holding a very special live workshop…the ONLY workshop I know of where you'll walk out with a website fully built and ready to make money.

I haven't told anyone about this workshop yet…I haven't even put up a salesletter for it yet! You see…

Seating will be VERY limited (I want to ensure every student gets the assistance they need to complete their site).

So…

I'm telling you about this first. If you're interested in possibly attending this live workshop, send an email to:
PPSworkshop@delivergold.com

…And I'll notify you with the details in just a couple of weeks.

Every day, more and more people discover that they can use the internet to reduce the time and investment it takes to build a profit.

And, every day, people are looking for that "magic key"…the one secret that will thrust their business to heights of profit in just a few days or weeks.

Well, I have both good news and bad news. I'll give you the bad news first…

There is no one "magic key" that will help your business soar to record heights overnight. While there are a lot of "get-rich-quick" schemes on the internet, most of them actually result in "going-broke-fast."

But, remember, I said there was GOOD news. Here it is…

There is a method you can use to jump your business YEARS ahead in just 2-3 days' time. How?

By attending live seminars and workshops!

You will actually get more dollar-for-dollar value from a live event than from any promotional strategy you use or any training materials you purchase.

Why?

Here are just some of the benefits you receive from attending a live event…all of which will put you on the "fast track" to success:

  • You'll learn an incredible amount of useful cutting-edge information you can immediately apply to your business…information you won't find in training manuals and ebooks.
  • You'll have the opportunity to meet the speakers up close and personal…these are the experts in their fields, and most are more than happy to give you one-on-one feedback about your ideas, etc.
  • You'll rub elbows with other entrepreneurs in your industry. Many of these people are very successful, and all of them are willing to share ideas and consider ways in which you could possibly help one another.

In fact, attending live seminars and workshops may well be the MOST important key to building a successful business.

Here's how you can make any live event PAY YOU dividends for years to come…

  • Focus on KEEPING IN TOUCH with the experts and successful entrepreneurs you meet, and on developing a relationship with them. They are your future Joint Venture partners.

What is a Joint Venture?

It is a mutually-beneficial business arrangement. It could be anything from an expert promoting your product to their list in exchange for a commission to working one-on-one with an expert to develop a new product.

Whatever form your Joint Venture takes, know this…

The most successful internet entrepreneurs make 90-percent of their money from Joint Ventures.

What does this mean for you?

It means successful entrepreneurs are constantly keeping their eyes open for intelligent people with great ideas who could become their future Joint Venture partners.

But, you won't meet these people unless you…attend live seminars and workshops!

Now, before I finish, I need to forewarn you…

Not all live events are worth attending. In fact, some of them are just big "sale-a-thons."

You don't want to waste your time and money…so be choosy. You want to attend 1-4 events every year that will provide you with:

  • Good content you can apply to build your business more effectively.
  • A panel of experts you'd like to meet.
  • Opportunities to network with the speakers and other attendees.

How will you know which events are worth your time?

Ask around…people who have attended events in the past can tell you which ones are worthwhile and which ones to avoid.

And, if you'd like to get on my announcement list so you're notified of upcoming events that I personally recommend, simply send an email to: events@UltimateMentor.com
