Miserable Monday
Why does it seem like everything always goes wrong on Mondays?
I mean…isn't it enough that Monday is spent catching up on email and stuff that came in over the weekend? Why is it that — if something is going to go wrong — it seems to always happen on a Monday??
Okay, I admit it. Maybe I'm feeling a bit biased right now. But, let me tell you what happened to me on Monday this week, and let's see if you don't agree with me…
I have a project deadline coming up on April 3rd (yep, next Monday…go figure). This project is worth a bundle, so I want to launch it on time…but the videos for the project are taking just FOREVER to complete.
To make sure my time this week is clear for video production, I spent a portion of Sunday getting all my ducks in a row and preparing all the materials I'd need to spend all day Monday (and the rest of this week) in video production.
Now, keep in mind that I work out of my home…
I wake up bright and early Monday morning, shower, put on makeup (which I almost never do!), style my hair (again, something I usually don't take the time to do), dress in a "professional" outfit (definitely NOT something I do on a regular basis)…and I'm just about to sit down at the computer to begin making videos when someone starts to use a chainsaw in my next door neighbor's yard.
Do you know how LOUD a chainsaw is? And, the noise goes on, and on, and on!
Anyway, back to my story…
Even with the windows shut tight, the noise of the chainsaw is so loud (in every room of my house) that there is no way I can create a video without the sound of the chainsaw drowning out the sound of my voice.
So, I decide to do some busywork for a few minutes. After all, I figure, how long can it take to chop some wood…15 minutes, a half hour?
A full HOUR later, I finally get frustrated enough to stick my head out the door and ask "how long are you going to be?"
Guess what they said…
"All day."
Yep…they were cutting down a dead tree in my neighbor's yard. And, they were true to their word…it took the entire day to chop it down and cut it up into pieces they could cart away.
And, what did I do all day? (After all, it was too noisy in the house to hear the TV or even listen to the radio.)
I spent the entire day doing busywork, and preparing materials in hope that things will be quiet enough the rest of the week for me to get the videos finished!
