Miserable Monday

Why does it seem like everything always goes wrong on Mondays?

I mean…isn't it enough that Monday is spent catching up on email and stuff that came in over the weekend? Why is it that — if something is going to go wrong — it seems to always happen on a Monday??

Okay, I admit it. Maybe I'm feeling a bit biased right now. But, let me tell you what happened to me on Monday this week, and let's see if you don't agree with me…

I have a project deadline coming up on April 3rd (yep, next Monday…go figure). This project is worth a bundle, so I want to launch it on time…but the videos for the project are taking just FOREVER to complete.

To make sure my time this week is clear for video production, I spent a portion of Sunday getting all my ducks in a row and preparing all the materials I'd need to spend all day Monday (and the rest of this week) in video production.

Now, keep in mind that I work out of my home…

I wake up bright and early Monday morning, shower, put on makeup (which I almost never do!), style my hair (again, something I usually don't take the time to do), dress in a "professional" outfit (definitely NOT something I do on a regular basis)…and I'm just about to sit down at the computer to begin making videos when someone starts to use a chainsaw in my next door neighbor's yard.

Do you know how LOUD a chainsaw is? And, the noise goes on, and on, and on!

Anyway, back to my story…

Even with the windows shut tight, the noise of the chainsaw is so loud (in every room of my house) that there is no way I can create a video without the sound of the chainsaw drowning out the sound of my voice.

So, I decide to do some busywork for a few minutes. After all, I figure, how long can it take to chop some wood…15 minutes, a half hour?

A full HOUR later, I finally get frustrated enough to stick my head out the door and ask "how long are you going to be?"

Guess what they said…

"All day."

Yep…they were cutting down a dead tree in my neighbor's yard. And, they were true to their word…it took the entire day to chop it down and cut it up into pieces they could cart away.

And, what did I do all day? (After all, it was too noisy in the house to hear the TV or even listen to the radio.)

I spent the entire day doing busywork, and preparing materials in hope that things will be quiet enough the rest of the week for me to get the videos finished!

In my opinion (and the opinion of several of my peers), Ken McArthur's "JValert Seminar" is hands-down the best deal in town!

Why do I say this? There are several reasons. Here are just a few..

  • While many seminars cost $1000, $2000 or more to attend… the "JValert Seminar" costs only $497 (and EarlyBirds can bring 2 friends for FREE!).
  • While most seminars are big sale-a-thons… the "JValert Seminar" is full of content you can immediately apply to increase your business profits.
  • While most seminars keep you so busy that you have only 10 minutes here and there on your break to network with other entrepreneurs… the "JValert Seminar" actually builds networking time right into the schedule.
  • While at most seminars the speakers keep to themselves and you only really see them when they're on stage… at the "JValert Seminar," speakers spend the entire day (and some evenings, too) mingling with all the attendees.

If you're thinking about attending a live event to push your business to the next level, and you only have the time and the budget to attend just one event, then the "JValert Seminar" should be the event you attend. I'm not just saying this…I truly believe it. Here's why…

The JV's I walked away with after attending just one "JValert Seminar," and the deals other attendees walked away with — ventures that are going to put several newbies on the map (yep, you'll recognize some of their names very shortly) — are so valuable I cannot even begin to express it in words.

In fact, the "JValert Seminar" is so valuable, I have decided to make it an important part of my business plan by attending every single one that I can work into my schedule.

I hope I've convinced you into seriously considering attending the next "JValert Seminar" …it could be the single most important thing you do for your business this year.

But, don't wait too long to register. The last seminar was sold out WEEKS in advance!

My business is in a major growth phase right now, and it started me thinking about the people in my life that have helped me get to where I am. Everyone needs a role model to imitate, and I’ve been fortunate enough to have two very important teachers…

  • My sister, Lela.
  • My paternal grandfather, Louis.

Each of these people taught me very different lessons about success. Today, I’d like to tell you about what I learned from my sister, Lela…

MY SISTER - MY HERO

Lela is 14 months younger than me, and she’s a very special woman. You see, she was born with a syndrome that didn’t even have a name till she was 15…a syndrome that affects her both physically and mentally.

When she was born in 1962, the doctors told my parents that Lela was profoundly retarded…that her mind would never develop beyond that of an infant. They strongly advised my parents to put my sister in an institution so she wouldn’t interfere with the rhythm of “normal” life for our family.

To this day, I am grateful my parents did NOT listen to the advice of the doctors. At the young ages of 24 and 26, my parents had the character and courage to tackle the job of raising their special needs child rather than banishing her to the cold and sterile environment of an institution.

It was because of this decision made by two young and inexperienced parents that my sister was able to prove the doctors wrong. Lela has grown emotionally to the level of a teenager. And, although she still has some physical limitations, she has been a blessing to all who know her.

Being only 14 months apart in age, Lela and I were naturally very close as we grew up. I became her protector and her teacher…she learned a lot by emulating what she saw me doing. I, in turn, learned a lot from her too.

For example…

At the age of 5, Lela decided it was time to learn how to tie her own shoes. After all, her big sister Holly could do it…so how hard could it be?

Every day for 4 years, Lela consistently attempted to tie her own shoes…and failed. However, she kept trying. It didn’t matter how frustrated she got…she never gave up. Finally, when she was 9 years old, she succeeded…her persistence had paid off!

Here’s what I learned from my sister, Lela, about success:

  1. Take consistent action toward your goal.
  2. Persist no matter what obstacles you encounter or emotional up’s and down’s you experience.
  3. Don’t expect to achieve your goal immediately…have the patience to allow time for your journey along the path to success.

Thank you, Lela, for teaching me the foundational skills necessary for achieving success in everything I do.

Next time, I’ll share with you the very important lesson my grandfather, Louis, taught me about success.
