It's been a year since I last posted to this blog. Did you miss me?

Yes, I'm still alive and kicking. And, yes… my business is still thriving.

So, where did I go?

I've been here all along, but LIFE happened. I won't go into all the details, but the past 18 months have been some of the most stressful of my entire life. Both personally, and with technical problems that affected the coaching/training portion of my business (thank GOODNESS for my passive income sites, or all would have been lost!).

If you wonder what I've been doing the past year between all the person stuff and the technical headaches, the truth is I've been working with my apprentices and proteges… and planning a LOT of exciting updates for everyone on my list. So, stay tuned… I'll be notifying you as soon as everything is ready.

You’re probably familiar with the saying “a penny saved is a penny earned.” But the truth is, when you save just one penny, it’s like earning $10. That’s because you can LEVERAGE that penny and make it go to work for you… increasing it’s value exponentially.

Think about it…

If you could take $100 and, instead of spending it on tools that you need to build your business, you invested it in marketing and advertising that brought in new customers – and each new customer made repeat purchases – what would happen to your bottom line?

That is EXACTLY how I built my income to 5-figures a month when I first started my internet business. Here’s what I did…

  • The first month, I took $300 I typically spent on something else, and invested it in marketing and advertising for my business. That investment resulted in a $300 profit from new customers.
  • The next month, I took the $300 I typically spent on something else ALONG WITH my $300 profit, and invested it in all in more marketing and advertising. That month my investment turned into $600 profit from new customers.
  • The following month, I took the $300 I typically spent on something else, along with that $600 profit, and invested it all in more marketing and advertising. How much did it earn? $1,100 profit from new customers.
  • The next month, I took the $300 I typically spent on something else, along with $1000 of my profit (just so you know, I kept the extra $100 to reward myself for a job well done), and again invested it all in more marketing and advertising for my business. That month, my investment turned into a $3,000 profit from new customers.

Are you beginning to see the pattern here?

And I’m only telling you about profits from sales to NEW customers. Remember…I also made repeat sales to those customers.

By saving money I would have spent anyway, and investing it in marketing and advertising that brought in new customers, I was able to very quickly turn an expense into a huge profit generating system.

A huge apology to all my readers! I just realized… it's been MONTHS since I last wrote to you.

These past 4 months have been some of the toughest in my business career. It seems that, every time I would move a step forward, something would happen to set me back TWO steps.

The bottomline is… the reason I've been experiencing these upsets is because my business grew too quickly for my business foundation to support. Here's what I mean…

When I started my business back in 1998, I never dreamed I would be so successful.

As most people who are first starting a business, I barely had two nickels to rub together, and so I ended up doing EVERYTHING myself:

  • Writing my own salesletters.
  • Designing my own websites.
  • Making my own sales calls.
  • Fulfilling my own orders.
  • Filing my own paperwork.
  • Answering my own correspondence.

… And the list goes on and on.

The problem is, I waited TOO long to hire other people to take some of these tasks off my hands.

When I finally hired people, I was already trying to fit more than a day's work into every 24 hours… and then had to take time out of my already overwhelming schedule to train people.

The theory was… I would fall behind for a time, but would eventually pull ahead because of the extra "hands."

Well, unfortunately, it worked much better in theory than in fact.

I made a few bad hiring choices and - as a result - have now lost 4 months of momentum and income in my business.

I am starting to come out of it now. But, if you've been wondering why I seemed to disappear and why I stopped writing, now you know. I had absolutely NO time whatsoever to spend on anything that wasn't vitally essential to keeping my business going just one more day.

Why am I sharing this with you?

To caution YOU not to make the same mistake I did. Don't wait until you are so swamped with work that you have no choice other than to hire someone.

As soon as you begin earning money in your business, you should begin hiring helpers to take over some of the more mundane tasks. That will free you up to focus your energies on the tasks that generate profit… which will enable you to build your business much faster (and with far less stress) than I have.

I guess this is just one more mistake I can help you avoid because I made the mistake first.
